Processing time for GCMS Notes
When you request your GCMS notes, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) usually processes the request within 30 calendar days under the Access to Information Act.
However, extensions may be taken in some cases, such as:
If the request involves a large number of records or requires a search through many files, and completing it in time would disrupt IRCC’s operations.
If consultations with other departments are needed and cannot be completed within the original 30-day timeframe.
When an extension longer than 30 days is needed, IRCC must inform the Information Commissioner, as required by subsection 9(2) of the Act.
Current Processing Times:
At the moment, most GCMS notes requests are being processed within 20 business days.
If you do not hear back within 30 business days after submitting your consent form, feel free to reach out to us through our Contact form. We’ll be happy to assist you.
