IRCC Conducts Largest PNP Express Entry Draw Since March

Canada continues to enhance its immigration landscape through the Express Entry system, with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently issuing 714 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) specifically for candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 738 and needed to have created their Express Entry profile before February 22, 2025.

In an analysis of the year’s immigration trends, it’s clear that 2025 has been a significant period for Express Entry draws, with a total of 81,223 ITAs issued thus far. The focus seems to be predominantly on PNP candidates, reflecting Canada’s strategy to address regional labor market needs and promote economic growth across its provinces.

The Express Entry system has also been prioritizing candidates with specific skills and experiences. While the PNP has seen the highest number of draws, there is a notable emphasis on candidates with French-language proficiency and those within the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This indicates a dual strategy: reinforcing linguistic diversity and tapping into the pool of individuals already integrated into Canadian society and its labor market.

A closer look at the distribution of ITAs reveals that French-language proficiency draws have been particularly substantial, with a significant 36,000 ITAs issued. The CEC follows with 22,850 ITAs, underscoring the importance of both linguistic capabilities and local experience in the immigration selection process. Healthcare and social services, another critical area, have seen nearly 9,800 ITAs, reflecting the ongoing demand for skilled professionals in these essential sectors.

This strategic allocation of ITAs across varied streams not only aligns with Canada’s economic goals but also addresses immediate labor market needs, ensuring a balanced and diverse influx of skilled immigrants. As Canada continues to refine its immigration policies, the Express Entry system remains a pivotal tool in shaping the nation’s demographic and economic future, fostering a multicultural society ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
