Frequently Asked Questions
What happens after I complete the payment?
After you complete the payment, you’ll be directed to submit your consent form. Your request will only be processed once we receive this document.
Do I need to provide a consent form?
Yes. A signed consent form is required for all requests. This authorizes the release of personal records and is mandatory under Canadian access laws. Requests are submitted only after a valid consent form is received.
Once you complete the payment, you’ll be directed to create an account with us and generate a per-printed consent form and submission instructions.
Can I order on behalf of someone else?
Yes. You can place an order for another person as long as the correct consent form is provided and signed by the individual whose records are being requested.
Do I need to submit a separate GCMS request for each applicant on the file?
No, a separate request is not always needed. If all applicants are part of the same application (such as a family sponsorship), one GCMS request using the principal applicant’s details is usually enough. The notes will often include information about all family members linked to that application, even if they have their own UCIs.
However, if each person submitted their own application, or if you need detailed records for a specific individual, then a separate request is recommended.
Does placing an order affect my immigration or visa application?
No. Submitting a request does not delay, pause, or negatively affect an active application. It is a lawful process and has no impact on decision-making.

How are my GCMS notes delivered?
Once released by the government department, records are delivered securely in your GCMS Notes Request account as a downloadable PDF file.
When will I receive my GCMS notes?
Your GCMS notes are sent to you the same day we receive them from the government department. Usually, this is within 15-35 days after application, however delays or extensions can occur under federal access laws.. Check out GCMS notes processing times for more details.
Can I expedite the processing for GCMS notes?
No, the processing times for all requests are the same and cannot be expedited.
At GCMS Notes Request, we submit the request the same business day they are complete and send the notes the same day they are released, ensuring a streamlined and efficient service.
What if my GCMS notes request takes longer than expected?
In some cases, IRCC or CBSA may seek extensions under the Access to Information Act, delaying the release of information.
Extensions are initiated by the government department and are outside our control, but we continue to monitor the request and keep you updated.
How can I track the progress of the request?
You can track the progress of your request in your account with us. If there’s any additional information required, we’ll contact you directly via email.
How is my personal information protected?
All documents and transactions are handled using secure systems. Access is limited strictly to what is required to process the request, and data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy standards.
