Canada Issues 2,946 Invitations in 2025 Experience Draw

The conclusion of the 2025 International Experience Canada (IEC) program’s selection rounds marks a significant milestone for one of the most sought-after youth mobility initiatives globally. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recently announced that 2,946 candidates received invitations to apply for IEC open work permits, culminating this year’s cycles.

The IEC program offers young individuals from partner countries the chance to immerse themselves in Canadian work culture, often serving as a stepping stone towards permanent residency. During the final draw, held from October 10 to October 27, invitations were extended to candidates from various countries, with the highest number going to Korea (679), followed by France (472) and Australia (398), among others.

In 2025, the program distributed 102,289 invitations, underscoring the international youth’s robust interest in Canada as a destination for work, travel, and career development. The IEC initiative is more than just a temporary work opportunity; it plays a crucial role in fostering cultural exchange, alleviating labor shortages in seasonal industries, and encouraging young talent to consider long-term settlement in Canada.

For many participants, the experience gained through the IEC program becomes their first Canadian work reference, which can be invaluable for eligibility in other immigration streams like Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Programs. The program’s various streams cater to different career stages, from those seeking adventure and travel to skilled professionals aiming to enhance their resumes.

As this was the final invitation round for 2025, candidates who did not receive an invitation will remain in the pool until the next season. It’s essential for these candidates to keep their profiles updated and prepare their documents to quickly respond to future invitations.

The IEC program’s enduring appeal highlights Canada’s commitment to global youth mobility and cultural exchange. With its welcoming nature and rich opportunities, the program is more than just a travel experience; it’s a crucial step for many towards establishing a professional life in Canada.
